Dorsey Edwin "Doc" True died August 28, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family and bathed in the sacraments of Holy Mother Church. Doc was born on True Hollow Rd., Ross County, Ohio on November 2, 1937, to Harold F. and Cleo L. (Sanborn) True. On September 13, 1958, he married Jacqueline Phillips, who survives.
He is survived by children; Deborah (Frank) Nunziato, John True, Brenda (William) Pickerrell, Steven True, and Donna True, all of Chillicothe; 21 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Wanda True, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charles and Georgia Phillips, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Harold True, Jr., a sister Rose May Danner, a grandson Stephen Tedesco, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kathryn and Arnold Bee, and brother-in-law William Phillips.
Doc was beloved by his family, friends and neighbors, and would always go out of his way to help anyone in need while he was still able. He enjoyed watching car races, football, and horse races. He loved his wife and kids, and all his extended family. His greatest joy was a visit from his children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren, especially in his later years, and he loved a "full house". He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
He was a former employee of Mead Corporation, the owner and operator of several local sanitary businesses, and retired from the Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Catholic Parish.
The family would like to thank Adena Hospice (especially Heidi, Dr. John Seidensticker and Bill), Marsha Ward, Fr. Stanislaus John, and The FIH Sisters for their kindness and compassion for Doc in his last days.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00pm on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Father Stanislaus John, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. There will be a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 11:30am prior to Mass at St. Peter Church.
