Dorothy Hess

Dorothy J. Kirker Hess, 95, of Chillicothe, died 1:15 am, Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Adena Regional Medical Center. She was born September 20, 1917 in Ellwood City, PA to the late James A. and Ida K. Kiesling Kirker. On August 5, 1941 she married the late Harry M. Hess, who died February 4, 2001. Survivors include her daughter, Karen "Kay" (Charles) Wallace, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Paige (Terry) Young, Jackie (Mike) VanderWoude, and Tara (Mark) Robinson; four great-grandchildren, Regan and Jacob Robinson and Brody and Mya VanderWoude. She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters, Clair Kirker, Aletha Miller, Fanchion Hazen, Esther McKinney, Mary Elizabeth Kirker, and James Kirker Jr. Mrs. Hess was a 1936 graduate of Lincoln High School, Ellwood City, PA and a life member of the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church, where she played the piano and organ for over 44 years. Private graveside services, under the direction of the Haller Funeral Home, will be held Tuesday October 23, 2012 in the Wurtemburg Cemetery. A family memorial service will be held at the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church, Ellwood City, PA in November.
