Dorothy M. "Dottie" Fogle, 94, died at 9:57pm January 15, 2018, at the Inn at Winchester Trail, Canal Winchester. She was born July 18, 1923, in Chillicothe to the late Charles E. and Florentine (Stein) McFerrin. On January 12, 1948, she married Lowell Fogle, who preceded her in death August 7, 1973. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Joyce (Joe) Bigler, Canal Winchester; her sister, Sister Mary Kathryn McFerrin, Cincinnati; granddaughters: Amy McQuade, Julie (Mike) Murphy, Janie (Tony) Modd, and Jodie (Greg) Holloway; 3 great-grandchildren, who brightened her last years, Abby, Lincoln and Annie; "bonus daughters" Peggy Ford and Pat Reed; "bonus great granddaughters" Emily and Hannah Holloway; numerous nieces and nephews, who she wants to continue with the reunions; a son-in-law Lee McQuade; and many friends including by two life long friends, Dorothy Delong and Maxine Allison. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law Sandy (Martin) Tull; sisters-in-law: Mary (Jay) Shanton, Jerry (Russ) Bowdle; her best friend Rita Rogers; her cousin Mary Ellen Graves; and special friends Charlie and Jinny Ray. Dottie was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1941. She then graduated from the Good Samaritan School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1944 and worked at the Chillicothe VA until 1947, when she chose to become a full-time homemaker and continue her life of service and care to others. She was a life-long member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a member of the Nurses' Guild No. 4, co-founder of the Ecumenical Widowed Support Group and a volunteer with the American Cancer Society and Meals on Wheels. Her life is best described by the gospel of Matthew 25:40, "Whatsoever you do for the least of my people, you do unto me." Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am Saturday, January 20, at St. Mary Church, Rev. Lawrence Hummer, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4-7pm at Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, where a wake service will be held at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary Restoration Project, 61 S. Paint St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
