Donald "Duke" Lee Wright, 87, of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly at 6:04 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2013, at Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 7, 1926, in Frankfort, OH, to the late Morris and Dorothy (Luckett) Wright. On April 3, 1952, he married the former Mary Ellen Lynch who survives. Together they have two children: a son, Nelson (Janet) Wright; and a daughter, Linda Wright, all of Chillicothe; a grandson: Shannon Wright, of London, OH; two great-grandchildren: Brandon and Jordan Wright; two brothers, Dennis (Terry) Wright of Frankfort; and James Wright, of Chillicothe; three sisters: Pat (Maurice) Fairrow, of Frankfort; Jessie Pettiford, of Greenfield; and Charlene (William) Bayless, of Xenia; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Duke was preceded in death by an infant brother Rodney; brothers: Russell, Robert, and Walter Wright; and a sister, Marcella Brown. Duke worked both at the V.A. Medical Center and the former Chillicothe Hospital/Adena Regional Medical Center as an aid before retiring in 1996. He was an extremely hard worker who enjoyed providing for his family. He was also a member of the Quinn Chapel AME Church for over 61 years. He enjoyed playing the harmonica as well as the guitar. He was also known for tinkering on things around the garage, whether it was mechanical or electrical, and wood carving. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the Quinn Chapel AME Church with Pastor Acie Collins officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may call at the church from 11:00-1:00pm on the day of the service.
