Donald C. Welshimer, Sr., 76, died unexpectedly September 30, 2017, at his residence. He was born November 14, 1940, in Ross County, to the late Carl and Virginia (Sullivan) Welshimer. On December 26, 1958, he married the former Vivian Kohn, who preceded him in death on September 30, 2014. Don is survived by his daughter Teresa Hatfield, of Kingston; grandsons Donnie C. Welshimer III; Jonathan (Jennifer) Welshimer, all of TN; and Joshua Hatfield, Kingston; a great-granddaughter Ashtyn Welshimer, of TN; sisters: Loretta Kellough, Lois Dickson and Becky Wilson; a brother Steve Welshimer; sisters-in-law Sue Holdren and Pat Wilson; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Donald C. Welshimer, Jr. Don was a graduate Centralia High School, Class of 1958. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. In 1998, he retired from DuPont Chemical as a supervisor. He was a former member of the American Legion, attended the First Church of God where he served as an usher and was a member of the "Prime Timers" group. He was also an avid Chillicothe Paints fan, a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Food Bank and loved hunting mushrooms. Funeral services will be held at 10am Friday October 6, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory with Revs. Matt Roe and Greg Pennington officiating. Military graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Bethel Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8pm at Haller's.
