Warden Donald Seymour, 84, of Chillicothe, died 2:55 pm, Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was born April 2, 1933 in Chillicothe to the late Elba Milton and Desi Marie Eblin Seymour. On June 18, 1954 he married Rebecca Lee Hale, who survives. Also surviving are his three daughters, Patti Strausbaugh, Cathy (Mike) Barnett and Donna (Ron) Collier Stepp, all of Chillicothe; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ranold (Barb) Seymour, of Lancaster; a sister, Beverly Pack, of Dayton; a sister-in-law, Virginia Seymour; and special friends, Mike Spindler and Larry Throckmorton. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin and Arnold "Did" Seymour; and a sister, Shirley Hurles. Warden was a lifelong resident of Chillicothe and was active for several decades in numerous faith, labor and civic organizations including the Sunrush Church of Christ, a member of and president of Chillicothe City Council and the Senior Bowling League, a member of the boards of directors of the Homeland Credit Union and the Girl Scouts of Ohio, a member of the Phoenix Fire Co., Ross Co. Republican Party, the Mead Foreman's Club, the Lion's Club, and the Mead Retirees Club. He was a graduate of Chillicothe High School and a US Air Force and National Guard veteran. He retired as a supervisor from the Mead Paper Co. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday at the Sunrush Church of Christ, Ron Thomas officiating. Military graveside services will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 pm Thursday at the church or 11-1, prior to the service on Friday at the church.
