Rev. Donald W. Rossman, 95, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord August 23, 2021 at his daughter's residence.
He was born April 3, 1926 near Pennsylvania Furnace, PA, the youngest of the two children of the late Rev. Randall L. and Viola Elder Rossman. On June 10, 1950 he was united in marriage with the former Fay I. Raine, of Penns Grove, NJ, by his father, Rev. Dr. Randall L. Rossman, DD. He is survived by their four children, Dona (Robert) Langdon, Kathi (Kevin) Taylor, Randall (Debra) Rossman, and Ruth (Emory) Clark; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ruth Shade, and his beloved wife Fay, who died June 18, 2011, ending their marriage of 61 years and 8 days.
Rev. Rossman was a graduate of the Harrison Township High School, Clay City, IN, Class of 1944; Cairn University, Philadelphia, PA, Class of 1950; Miami University, Oxford, OH, Class of 1960; and the United Theological Seminary, Dayton, OH, Class of 1963. Before moving to Ohio in 1957 he served as pastor of the North Buffalo Grace Brethren Church, near Kittanning, PA. He was a member of the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. Over the years he served congregations in the former Cincinnati, Dayton, Defiance, Portsmouth and Zanesville districts. From 1982 until his retirement in 1991 he served as pastor of Tyler Memorial UMC. He was a member of Scioto Lodge 6 F&AM, and Chapter 419 Order of the Eastern Star. He was a 32-year volunteer at the Adena Regional Medical Center. During World War II he served in the US Army (1944-46) with the 602 nd MP Bn.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory with his son-in-law, Rev. Emory H. Clark and grandson, Rev. Jason W. Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Crouse Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call 9:00-11:00 am Friday at Haller's. Memorial contributions may be made to Tyler Memorial UMC, 260 Mill St., or Adena Hospice, 9 S.
