Donald Hutchison

February 8, 1953 — November 20, 2005

Donald R. "Rick" Hutchison On Sunday, November 20, 2005, our most loved Rick Hutchison went home to live with Jesus. Diagnosed with lung cancer in September, 2004, he accepted Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior, and since then, he witnessed to many about his new found faith. He was born on February 8, 1953, to Donald D. and Pauline Hutchison, in Wellston, OH. He and his wife of 31 years, Millie (nee Keppler) are the proud parents of Jason (Kelli) and Joe (Amy). He was also proudest and happiest when he was with his adored granddaughter, Carli Hope. Other loved ones include his sister and family, Cheryl and John, Courtney, Jenna, and Zachary Purdum; his brother and family, Scott and Tami, India, and Reid Hutchison; his mother and father-in-law, Alfred and Velma Keppler; his brother-in-law and family, Ralph, Kristen, and Matthew Keppler; and brother-in-law and family, Mark and Lorie Keppler. He was preceded in death by grandparents, John and Burneeda Hutchison, a beloved grandmother and great-grandfather, Mallia Wallace and John Collins. He was graduate of Southeastern High School (Class of 1971) and earned an Associates Degree from Scioto Technical School. He was an employee of Mead-NewPage with 32 years of service where he worked in the E&I Shop in the Pulp Mill. "Hutch" prided himself in solving the unsolvable problem. He went that extra mile to mentor his co-workers. Rick attended First Wesleyan Church, where he was enjoying a Bible Study. In his free time, he could be found doing carpentry work in his backyard workshop creating many beautiful pieces. Rick often could be found washing his cars, mowing his grass, or just relaxing on his front porch. He was a very giving man and will be remembered by many friends and relatives because he was always ready to help with car repairs, plumbing, remodeling, and other odd jobs. A service to honor Rick's life will be held Wednesday, November 23 at 3 pm in the First Wesleyan Church, Rev. B. Jay Dailey officiating. Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday at the Haller Funeral Home, or one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Wesleyan Church, 89 S. Mulberry St. or the Richmond Dale United Methodist Children's Choir.
