Donald T. "Tuffy" Hayburn, 82, of Chillicothe, died June 8, 2016, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born September 30, 1933, in Jackson County, OH to the late Archie E. and Sylvia I. (Thacker) Hayburn. On October 10, 1953, he married the former Margaret A. Michaels, who preceded him in death on December 22, 2013. Surviving are their children: Jeff (Cathy) Hayburn, Chillicothe, Theresa (Dan) DePugh, Frankfort, Rebecca (Tom) Hewitt, Donald Hayburn II, all of Chillicothe, Anne (Don) Hawk, Frankfort, and Nick (Angie) Hayburn, Chillicothe; 34 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings Joann Witaker, Ronald Hayburn, Maggie Carnes, Betty Schoolcraft, and an infant brother John Hayburn. Tuffy was a servant of his community serving as a Chillicothe Police Officer, retiring in 1983, and then working for 14 years at Adena Regional Medical Center as a security officer. He also served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, American Legion, Post 62, and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), Lodge 59. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am, Monday, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Rev. Sean Dooley, Celebrant. Military Graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 1-3 and 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, where a Rosary service will be held at 7:30pm followed by a FOP service at 8pm.
