Donald C. Dennewitz, 70, of Chillicothe, passed away early Monday morning on July 26, 2021 at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born August 18, 1950 in Sandusky, Ohio, son of the late Paul Curtis and Norene Doris Dennewitz. On December 13, 1997, he married his beloved wife Karen (Shuster) Dennewitz, and together they shared nearly 24 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Donald (Sara) Jr., and Ryan (Krista); step-children, Candice (Christopher) Hixon, and Joshua (Anna) Childs; grandchildren, Noah and Nora Dennewitz, Kendal Dennewitz, Troy and Lauren Hixon, and Delilah Childs, Tyler and Dravin; and his sister, Marla (Terry) McNabb.
Donald was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy, serving during Vietnam. He went on to work for the Chillicothe VA Medical Center as a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant for over 43 years before he retired in 2015. In his free time, he loved traveling to Sandusky and Lake Erie with his wife Karen, exploring new places along the way. He also loved being outdoors and working in his yard when able.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation services will be performed. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the Scioto Township Hall, 164 S Watt Street, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601. Military honors provided by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard will take place immediately following the service. Friends may join the family for a visitation one hour prior to the service and are invited to stay for a meal following all services.
