Donald Durwood Davis, 79, of Chillicothe, passed away at 1:50pm on Monday, August 21, 2023 at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center.
He was born December 2, 1943, in Richmond, VA, son of the late John and Ethel Davis.
He is survived by three sons, Bryan (Leah) Davis, Brad (Erica) Davis, and Brent Davis (and a special person Stephanie); a sister, Margie; twelve grandchildren, Joey Davis, Jeremey Swanson, Brandon (Kelly) Davis, Dr. Caleb Davis, Madison (Freddy) Cortez, Chelsea (Kasey) Saunders, Tyler Davis, Kayla Miller, Austin Nunley, Tiffany, Tanner, and Travis Chenault; the mother of his sons, Janet Davis Sharp; a special person, Bonnie Maxwell; seven great-granddaughters, Journey, Aubrey, Alexis, Adriana, Kaylee, Demi, and Riley; and one great-grandson, Kayne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Corkie, Gary, and John (his best friend); and a sister, Wilda.
Donald was a graduate of Jackson High School, class of 1962. He was an outstanding football player for the Jackson High School Ironmen, who won numerous awards in the SEOAL League for 1961. Following graduation, he went on to enlist in the United States Marines, where he proudly served his country from 1962-1966 before being honorably discharged. He had a deep love for children and was always willing to help anyone in need. Throughout his life, he worked as an entrepreneur; owning and operating several businesses.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Chillicothe VA Medical Center and staff for the excellent care he received during his final days.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation services will be performed. There will be no public calling hours or funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his honor can be sent to the VFW Post 8402, 283 E. Main St., Jackson, OH 45640. Any donations received will be used for the "Save a Warrior" program.
