Dixie Lee Wood, 70, passed from this life in her home on Thursday, December 1, 2022 of natural causes. She was born in New Holland, Ohio on June 6, 1952, daughter of the late Floyd and Ella Jean Wood.
After graduating from Miami Trace High School, she went on to work at General Electric in Circleville, Ohio until her retirement in 2014.
Dixie was an avid Ohio State fan and never missed watching a game. She is survived by her only son, David G. (Michelle) Wood; her only grandson, Justin Wood, who she thought hung the moon; and her little dachshund, Lacie. Also surviving are five sisters, Kathy (Joe) Wilson, of Hillsboro, Maralinda (Logan) Wilburn, of Lake Placid, FL, Patty (Mike) Readenour, of Hillsboro, Paulette (Jeff) Gerz, of Chillicothe, and Marian (Jeff) Black, of Clarksburg; one brother, Jess (Vivian) Wood, of New Holland; and a very special friend, Marsha Sours. Dixie also had many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Floyd Junior Wood (Sonny), Howard (Joann) Wood, Carroll (Mary) Chaffin, Charles E. Wood, and Lester Dunn; a sister-in-law, Carol Wood; and special friend and roommate, Nancy Coy.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation services will be performed. A celebration of life service for family and friends will be held at a future date.
