Diane Thornton

Diane Lynn Thornton, 66, of South Salem, passed away Thursday night, December 2, 2021 at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.
She was born April 12, 1955, in Chillicothe, Ohio, daughter of the late Clarence A. and Marilyn S. (Toohey) Jenkins. On September 9, 1978, she married her beloved husband, Dana William Thornton, Sr., who survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Catherine Gray, and Danielle (Jeramie) Cottrill; a son, Dana W. (Christen) Thornton, Jr.; grandchildren, Ashleigh Campagne, Braydon Thornton, Colin Campagne, Patrick Thornton, Madalyn Thornton, Destiny Butterbaugh, Erika Gray, and Jamie Lynn Gray; and siblings, Judy (Terry) Althouse, Frances Detty, Rebecca Jenkins, Ronald (Rose) Jenkins, and Clarence Jenkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, James Hafner; sisters, Carol L. Jenkins, and Janet Jenkins; and a son-in-law, Patrick Gray.
Diane was a graduate of Southeastern High School, class of 1973. She went on to work at the St. Catherine Manor of Washington Court House where she recently retired in 2016. She was a member of the Chillicothe Moose Lodge 1626 and the Chillicothe Eagles #600. In her free time, she enjoyed baking and cooking. But most of all, she loved getting to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and family. She was loved by so many and touched everyone's hearts with her spark.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation on Monday evening from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the funeral home.
