Desiree Elaine Rackley, 42, of Chillicothe, passed away Wednesday morning, August 27, 2025, following an extended illness.
She was born July 14, 1983, in Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter of the late John Kennedy and Lorri (Spears) Black.
Desiree is survived by her two beloved daughters, Delilah (Hunter Leasure) Rackley, and Layla Rackley; her sister, Sarah Kennedy; her sponsor, Kristin Wilson; close friend, Sasha Smith; the father of her children, Jonathan Rackley; former father-in-law, Phillip Dragston; goddaughter, Nevaeh Hope; and her dog, Maximus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Darius Black; and her former mother-in-law, Pamela Dragston.
Desiree was a proud mother who fought the difficult battle to get clean for her daughters. On February 10, 2017, she began her journey of recovery and maintained her sobriety. Part of her journey included being a sponsor to others, helping people in active addiction get on a better path, and hosting meetings to assist anyone she could. As her health began to decline over the last few years, Desiree began spending more time at home, where she enjoyed crocheting and watching television with her girls.
A celebration of life service is being planned in her honor and will be announced in the coming days.
