Deanna Lynn Ward, of Pickerington, formerly of Chillicothe, born September 20, 1964, in Chillicothe, departed this world on March 12, 2013. Survived by her husband Michael Eugene Ward; daughter Meagan Elizabeth Ward; and son Michael Eugene Ward Jr.; mother Blanche Yates, of Pickerington, OH; sisters Debra (Steven) Hammond, Bellefontaine, OH; and Dorothy Hitchens, Columbus, OH; brother Carl Hitchens Jr., Columbus, OH; nephews Nathaniel (Sylvia) Barnett, Italy; Travis (Kerri) Barrent, Florida; Qin Conaway, Bellefontaine, OH; and numerous aunts, uncles and in-laws on her husband's side. Deanna graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1982 and attended OU-Chillicothe campus thereafter. Deanna was born to Blanche Yates and the late Carl E Hitchens, Sr. She loved sports and the Ohio State Buckeyes. She was a long standing member of the First Baptist Church of Chillicothe. She married Tico Ward and bore a child like no other Meagan Elizabeth. As the years past Deanna and Meagan became more of best friends then mother/daughter. Giving Meagan all of her love and affection was top priority for Dee. Deanna began work at American Electric Power in 1988 in Chillicothe. She took a promotion that moved her to Columbus, where she lived for the past fifteen years. Deanna celebrated her 25th anniversary with American Electric Power on March 9, 2013, where she worked as a Functional Architect II. Deanna was instrumental in developing the online web service of starting new service with the company. This is also the time she met her husband to be that she loved and cherished along with her new son. Deanna was a family oriented person and ensured they were first in her life. But she always found time to help and be there for others. Having worked for the company for so long, she came in contact with a host of people that she called family. They are too many to name. Deanna never met a stranger and was considered angelic. Although she was stricken with a life threatening illness, she never questioned why and always kept her faith in the lord. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, March 16, at the First Baptist Church, 65 W. Fourth St., with Pastor Robert Hitchens, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 11am until 1pm Saturday at the church.
