David William Wagner, Sr., 76, of Chillicothe, died Saturday September 10, 2016. David was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on October 15, 1939, the son of Paul and Mary Jane Wagner. He graduated from Purcell High School in Cincinnati, earned an undergraduate degree from Xavier University and a Master's Degree from Indiana University. David had a stellar military career in the United States Army. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and received a bronze star medal in the Vietnam War. He earned many meritorious medals, but he was most proud of completing Ranger School and the General Staff College training. David was a member of the Army Navy Country Club, the Chillicothe Country Club and the Elks Lodge. Throughout the years he belonged to several service clubs. David is survived by his wife, Marsha, his three children: David W. Wagner, Jr. (Melissa) of Centerville, VA, Michael S. Wagner (Regina) of Fairfax Station, VA, Steven M. Wagner (Heather) of Bristow, VA, the mother of his children, Mary Margaret Wagner of Gainesville, VA, his three stepchildren: Laura W. Bannister (David R.) of Cincinnati, OH, John D. Tomlinson (Staci) of Cincinnati, OH, Andrew L. Tomlinson (Meredith) of Chillicothe, OH, and his grandchildren: Marshall, Regan and Sarah from Northern Virginia and John and Nick Tomlinson, Halle Bannister and Grace and Maeve Tomlinson from Ohio. David is also survived by brothers Gerald and Michael Wagner and his twin sister, Diane Meyer, as well as many nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his sister Janet DeWitt. Dave was a very kind man who loved his family, friends, golf and a good game of duplicate bridge. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Richard Rooney for giving David daily prayers and Dr. John Seidensticker for helping us understand the process of the journey to the afterlife. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church, Rev. William Hahn, Celebrant. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, DC, at a later date with the assistance of Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. Calling hours will not be observed.
