David Lee Vaughn, 73, passed from this life June 3, 2025 at the Hopewell House VA Medical Center Chillicothe hospice care, after an extended illness. His family would like to thank the staff at the VA.
David was born June 12, 1951 in Portsmouth, Ohio to Sanford and Beulah (Alexander) Vaughn. He is survived by his daughter, Heather (Billy) Alexander; granddaughter, Gracie Richmond; sisters, Freda (Charles) Ratcliff, Londonderry, Carolyn (Dave) Phipps, Chillicothe, and Richard (Vicki) Vaughn, Lancaster; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Sanford Jr., James, and Jerry; his two sisters, Julia Yahraus, and infant sister, Mary Ellen; and a special friend and life partner, Malinda Hollis.
David was a graduate of Southeastern High School where he excelled in track. He worked numerous jobs in Ross, Pike, Franklin, and Clark counties. Airplanes and Aviation was an important part of his life. He served four years in the United States Air Force and was employed for nine years on Rickenbacker Air Force Base. He was a longtime member of RORKS flying club. His hobbies included building and flying model airplanes. He also liked and owned several corvettes.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation services will be performed. There will be no public calling hours or services.
