David A. Skaggs, 66, of Chillicothe, died January 31, 2014, at his home, unexpectedly. He was born June 4, 1947 in Ross Co. to Ulysses S. and Rosie H. Price Skaggs, the fourth of twelve children. In addition to his mother, survivors include a daughter, Nicole (Jimmy) Wills; a son, David A. Skaggs II; a grandchild, Chloe Ann, whom he loved and cherished dearly; the mother of his children, Cathy Skaggs; two sisters, Wanda M. Adams and Anna V. (Aaron) Overly; seven brothers, Donald E. (Esther), John A. (Diana), Charles R. (Rhonda), Rick (Pamela), Rodney (Kathy), Mark (Carrie), and Ulysses Jr. (Jana) Skaggs; and several nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Esther J. Miller a brother, Harold Roger Skaggs; and brothers-in-law, James Miller and Bernard Adams. After graduation, David worked for General Electric, Circleville, and after a tour of duty in the Air Force, which included the Viet Nam War, David returned to G.E. and eventually retired from there in 2000. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed many years of training and racing horses. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. After the illness and death of his father, David spent many hours with his mother watching the Buckeye and Cincinnati Reds. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday at the Haller Funeral Home, Rev. Fred Fox officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Little Mound Cemetery. Friends may call 11-1 Tuesday at Haller's. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite veteran's charity.
