David Sheridan

David Phillip Sheridan, 87, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the evening of July 6, 2024 following an extended illness.
On July 2, 1937, he was born in Chillicothe, Ohio, son of the late Harold Sheridan and Thelma Futon. David spent his youth in the Clarksburg/New Holland area playing basketball and becoming an Eagle Scout. Upon graduating from New Holland High School in 1955, he enlisted into the United States Air Force. While serving in Paris, France as a military police officer, he was wounded guarding General Norstad. This act of courage earned him the Purple Heart. Following his military service, David began working at Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company and retired after 40 years of service.
On December 5, 1959, David married the love of his life, Judith Ann Jacobs, who survives. They spent a wonderful 64 years together traveling, camping, and enjoying their two girls.
David was an avid hunter and fisherman. He held national championships in both archery and muzzleloader shooting. David was so proud when he built his own bow and muzzleloading rifle. His favorite hobby though was spending time with his family and friends. He was the best joke teller and could tell a story that would leave you wondering whether it happened or not. However, his greatest joy came when he was teaching and sharing his life experiences with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Becky Hardwick (Jeff), of Chillicothe, and Kacey Seymour (Greg), also of Chillicothe; his grandsons, Zeke Littleton (Rachel), and Andy Littleton (Carol); great-grandchidlren, Ava, Sophia, and Bert; his brother, Richard McPherson; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends, who all held a special place in his heart. David also had a special connection with his grand-pups, always asking about them and saying "twist their tails and scratch behind their ears for me."
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Hazel Sheridan, his stepfather, Pete McPherson, and his sister-in-law, Evelyn McPherson.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation services were performed. Military graveside honors conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Grandview Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Hines officiating.
