David Neal

David A. Neal, 61, died at 10:29am April 17, 2018, at Adena Regional Medical Center surrounded by family following an extended illness.   He was born April 3, 1957, in Chillicothe to the late William G., Jr. and Ruth F. (Damico) Neal.  On September 21, 1985, he married Deborah L. Steele, who survives.   In addition to his beloved wife Debbie, he is survived by his loving daughter Sarah Neal, of Chillicothe; siblings: Joannie Neal, of Bexley; Mike Neal, Steve (Beth) Neal, Bill (Diane) Neal, Sue (Dave) Ott, all of Chillicothe; nieces and nephews: Steve, Jr. (Helen), Melissa, Mark, Marie (Brandon), Patrick, Jon (Daniel),  Jessie; great-nieces and great-nephews: Lilliana, Camden, Carson, Kennedy, Adalynn and Braeden.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Ralph and Letha Steele.   David was a graduate of Bishop Flaget High School, Class of 1975 and earned his Bachelor's Degree from Ohio University.  He was a Certified Public Account and worked for many years as the Chillicothe City Treasurer and was a partner with Caldwell, Neal, Ott & Co. CPA's.  Dave was an accredited tax advisor, a certified retirement counselor and a member of the Ohio Society of CPA's.  He also was an independent computer consultant.   Dedicated to his faith and his community, Dave was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church where he served on Parish Council and as a Eucharistic Distributor.  He was a former member of the K of C and proudly served on the Democratic Executive Committee.  Dave also volunteered with the Hospice Program for National Church Residences.  His last gift to others was that of being an organ donor.   The family would like to give special thanks to Adena Health System nurses, doctors and caregivers as well as the Hocking Nursing students for their exceptional care and compassion.   Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Tuesday, April 24, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Rev. Sean Dooley, Celebrant.  Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery.  Friends may call Monday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8pm.   Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Peter, 285 W.
