David Koch

March 14, 1943 — October 22, 2021

David C. Koch, 78, of Chillicothe, passed away on Friday morning, October 22, 2021 at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born March 14, 1943 in Bangs, Ohio, son of the late Wilbert and Dorothy (Critchfield) Koch. On June 21, 1969, he married his beloved wife, and the rock of the family Sharon (Deem) Koch who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Aaron (Mindy), Josh, and Ben Koch; a grandson, Kaiden Koch; a brother, Brad (Susan) Koch; sister-in-law, Carole Miller; two brothers-in-law, Mike (Debbie) Deem, and Sam Deem; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Adam C. Koch, and Jacob D. Koch; and a brother-in-law, Lynn Miller.
Dave was a graduate of Tri-State University, class of 1966 where he obtained his B.A. degree in accounting. He was then drafted by the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War from 1966-1968. Upon his return, he began working for the Mead Paper Company where he retired in 2003 after being employed with them for 37 years.  Dave was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church where he was the treasurer for many years.
Dave always put his loved ones needs before his own.  There is nothing he wouldn't do for his family, neighbors, and friends.  He grew up playing sports and he loved to watch his sons and grandson compete on the athletic field.  After he retired, he was able to start playing golf again.  He always looked forward to playing with his friends, his family, and golfing in the Independent League at the Chillicothe Jaycee Golf Course.  If Dave wasn't coaching his boys, he was always there to support them and yell at the refs a little.  Dave left this world a happy man.  The night before he passed, he was able to attend his grandson's sectional soccer game and watch the Chillicothe CAVS pull of a thrilling double overtime win and then came home to watch the Cleveland Browns later that night.   Dave enjoyed many road trips with his sons, friends, and family.  Dave was a special gift to this world and will be truly missed by all that knew him.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Haller Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom Pairan officiating. Military graveside honors will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation from 1:00pm until the time of the service.
