David Gibson

David A. Gibson, 53, of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly in the early morning on Tuesday, March 31, 2009. He was born August 21, 1955, in Chillicothe, to the late Melvin, Sr. and Marie (Beverly) Gibson. On January 26, 1986, he married the former Uvette R. Brown, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter and son-in-law Tiffany (Nick) Gibson-Mallory and their children, Ryan and Renee; a god-daughter Amie Kinney and her children Craig and Averie; a brother Melvin, Jr. (Linda) Gibson; a sister Joana Scudder; special mother-in-law Doralee Hairston; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mike and Gabby Brown; sisters-in-law Kathy Davis, Jessica Brown, and Susie Brown; a brother-in-law Bobby Tyler; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. David loved and was loved by so many people, the list goes on and on. We would like to mention some very special friends, Phil Rutherford, Lake Fry, Shawn Robinson, Brent Schoeblock, William "Bill" Cox, Terry Long, Shawn Martindale, Josh Hoover and all the staff of the Backstage, Cross Keys, Roosters, the bowling alley, 2nd Shift at CCI and the members of the SRT Team. He was preceded in death by his mother; his father; infant brother Keith Ray; special friend and brother-in-law Gary Davis; brother-in-law Romeo Quito; and father-in-law Robert Brown. David had worked as a corrections officer at CCI since 1998 where he served on the SRT Team. Funeral services will be held at Noon Friday, April 4, at Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Phil Rutherford officiating, assisted by Rev. J. Troy Gray and Rev. Jeremy Beverly. Military graveside services will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 10am until 12:00pm Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home.
