David Douglas Dixon, 87, passed away at 1:25 a.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Chillicothe on January 8, 1939, to the late Gordon G. and Edna (Gunlock) Dixon.
On April 25, 1959, he married Nancy Helen Wiley, who preceded him in death on September 27, 2016, after 57 years of marriage.
He is survived by their two daughters, Angela Sue Hupp of Londonderry and Amy K. (Mark) Martens of Laurelville; two grandchildren, Ashleigh Morgan Hupp of Kingston and Savannah Virginia Martens of Laurelville; his brother, Tom Dixon; sister-in-law, Linda Dixon; and numerous nephews. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Dixon, and sister-in-law, Patty Dixon.
David was a graduate of Chillicothe High School. He worked at Mead for many years and later drove a school bus for the Zane Trace School District. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Trinity Brotherhood, and was a 60-year member of the Masonic Lodge. He also served on the Ross County Fair Board, was the Ross County Sheep Superintendent, a member of the Ross County Sheep Producers, and belonged to the National Campers & Hikers Association. David proudly served in the U.S. Army with the 1st Armored Division.
He enjoyed playing golf, camping, showing and watching horse shows, and spending time with his granddaughters. He also participated in many Relay for Life events with his wife.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Haller Funeral Home & Crematory from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Kingston, with Pastor Euggle Robertson officiating.
