Danny Ratliff

Danny E. Ratliff, 59, of Chillicothe, died at 12:55pm Sunday, May 24, 2009, in his home following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born November 21, 1949, in Portsmouth, OH, to the late Herbert and Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Webb Ratliff. On August 19, 1972, he married the former Patricia P. Cahill, who survives. Also surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law Kenneth and Tracy Webb, Charleston, WV; W. Joseph and Theresa Webb, Clyde, OH; Daniel and Susan Ratliff, Chillicothe; daughter and son-in-law C. Danette and Shane Richardson, South Webster, OH; 13 grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law Patty and John Weaver, West Portsmouth, OH; Debbie and Fred Vollrath, Reynoldsburg; Tootsie and David Timmerman, Virginia; Sherry Clark, West Portsmouth; a brother and sister-in-law Rev. Ricky and Janice Ratliff, West Portsmouth; many nieces, nephews and many special musician friends. He was predeceased by a brother James "Herby" Ratliff and a daughter Dayna S. Ratliff Johnson. Danny worked the last twelve years as the maintenance service manager at North River Place Apartments. He served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 62; life member of the AmVets, Post 4, where he was Past Commander; and a member of the Eagles, Aerie 600. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, June 6, at the Haller Funeral Home with his brother, Rev. Ricky Ratliff officiating. Military honors conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will be conducted during the service. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to the American Legion, Post 62, 53 W.
