Daniel Rogers

May 8, 1952 — February 10, 2018

Daniel Warren Rogers, 65, of Chillicothe, died peacefully, in his home February 10, 2018. Danny was born May 8, 1952 in Johnstown, PA to late Warren and Rita Schuster Rogers. On May 12, 1973 he married his high school sweetheart Mary Jane Dennis, who survives. He is also survived by his children, Patrick (Kathy), Katie McCune (Josh), Phillip (Bobbi), and Alex (Lyndsi); grandchildren, Leia Rogers, Audrey, Summer and Jake McCune, Reese and Samantha Rogers, and Brooks Daniel Rogers arriving in March; a brother, Rev. Patrick Rogers; sisters-in-law, Audrey Sparks, Judy Dennis, and Joann Dennis; brothers-in-law, Michael (Cheryl), Charles, and Patrick (Bernie) Dennis; many nieces and nephews; and the best friends a person could ask for.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Susan (Joseph) Schneider; his mother and father-in-law, John and Mary Dennis; brothers-in-law John and Steve Dennis, and Richard Sparks; and a sister-in-law Nancy (Fritz) Frey. He graduated from Bishop Flaget High School in 1970, and just received the Distinguished Alumni Award. He moved to Johnstown, PA and began working for Pennsylvania Electric. He and his wife moved back to Chillicothe in 1974, where he attended Ohio University-Chillicothe, and started working at the Piketon Gaseous Diffusion Plant. He retired as General Manager from American Centrifuge Plant after 40 years of service.   Danny was passionate about life and enjoyed a great many things. He loved music, playing golf, cycling, and home improvement projects. He was handy and never found a problem around the house he couldn't fix himself. He loved to watch Ohio State football and his favorite player was always the backup quarterback. He served his school, his church, and his community in many ways.   Above all, he was a man of deep faith, and attended St. Peter Catholic Church. More than anything else in his life, Danny loved his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Nothing made him happier than hosting everyone at his pool while he manned the grill and margarita maker. He made sacrifices for his family, always putting their needs first. While his death is a terrible loss for those he left, his life was an incredible blessing. The lives he touched keep his legacy of love and service alive. One piece of advice he gave was to "Be kind, and show love to people". His family would like to thank Hospice and Professional Case Management for the outstanding care he received.  But above all we wished to thank all of his friends, not only for their continued friendship throughout his life, but for the outreach of support that made that last chapter of his journey bearable. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Thursday at St. Peter Church, Rev. William Hahn, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 pm Wednesday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, where a Rosary will be held at 8:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. Peter Church, 126 Church St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
