Daniel Barker

Daniel R. Barker, 71, of Hilliard, formerly of Chillicothe, died at 3:17pm January 30, 2018, at Adena Regional Medical Center, following a hard fought battle with cancer.   He was born July 8, 1946, in Columbus, OH to the late James T., Sr. and Sarah A. (Skaggs) Barker. On October 13, 1992, he married the former Amber E. Baer, who survives.   Also surviving are his children: Danny (Kim) Barker, Jr., Kingston; Danele Barker, Chillicothe; Kristen (David) Stewart; Dawn (Jeff) Hughes, Chillicothe; Fawn Barker, Chillicothe; Benjamin (Faren) Barker, Londonderry; Dana Kirkman, Chillicothe; step-children: Michael (Kim) Miller, Frankfort; Matthew Miller, Hilliard; 18 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers: Michael (Linda) Barker, Gilbert, AZ; Wayne (Brenda) Barker, Chillicothe; James T., Jr. (Kay) Barker, Londonderry; and a sister Ann (Don) Donahue, FL.   Dan was a 1964 graduate of Southeastern High School. He retired from the Chillicothe Fire Dept. in 1983 and had also worked for Haller Funeral Home and Ambulance Service. He served his country in the US Air Force from 1970-1972 and was a member of the American Legion, AMVETS and the VFW.   Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory with Dr. Danny Baer officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4-8pm at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the funeral on Saturday.
