Dana Anthony Valentine, 75, of Chillicothe, passed away on Thursday afternoon, July 11, 2024 at his home, following an extended illness.

He was born February 13, 1949, in Chillicothe, son of the late Lester and Betty (Brown) Valentine. On February 10, 1969, he married his beloved wife, Nedra (Austin) Valentine, and together they shared over 55 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by their two sons, Sean A. Valentine, and Roderic L.A. Valentine, both of Chillicothe; his grandson who is currently serving in the United States Army, Austin X. (Kristin) Valentine, of Fort Campbell; his two sisters-in-law, Lucille Lee, and Donna Austin, both of Chillicothe; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dean A. Valentine.

Dana was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Air Force. Upon his return to Chillicothe, he began his career working at the United States Postal Service where he worked as a Clerk until his retirement in 2008. During his employment with USPS, he served as the union steward. He was also a former member of the Chillicothe Cavalier club. In his free time, he loved watching his sons, and later his grandson, play sports. He was well known in the area for his baseball coaching days, having spent time coaching in the Scioto Valley League all the way though the city league. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan, as well as the Cincinnati Bengals.

In accordance with his wishes, private military graveside honors, conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard will be held for family and friends at 11:00am on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Greenlawn Cemetery.
