Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Dana Duane Thomas, who passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, at the age of 77.
Dana was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on July 22, 1947, to the late Lewis Thomas and Gloria Ann Thomas. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and generosity. Dana was a father figure to many throughout his life. He welcomed all walks of life into his home and treated them as family. Dana was often referred to as the "go-to man" whenever someone needed something fixed, needed a ride, or a good meal to eat. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
In his younger years, Dana found enjoyment in playing cards, playing slot machines at casinos, and bowling with his friends and teammates.
Dana worked in the family concrete business before starting his career at RCA. Dana retired from RCA after working there for more than 30 years. Even while working long hours, he made it a priority to attend all of the events his children were involved in. Once retired, Dana made it his mission to continue attending the sporting events and extracurricular activities his grandsons participated in.
Dana is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cindy Thomas; children, David (Kim) Thomas, Emily (Christopher) Fox, and Troy Thomas. Dana was an amazing grandfather who lived to make his grandchildren happy. His grandchildren will miss hearing his stories about the mischief he and his brothers got themselves into. They will also miss joking around with him and knowing they have someone who could not say no to them. He will be greatly missed by his grandsons Connor Fox, Maddox Fox, Nolan Fox, Tye Fox, and Tiger Thomas. Dana also leaves behind his brothers, Jay "Mickey" Thomas, Marland (Anita) Thomas; his brother-in-law, Tye (Kris) Richard Davis, sister-in-law Nancy (Richard) Hinty, and sister-in-law Sally Kleon. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, brothers Aaron Thomas, Jaques Thomas, Javan Thomas, and Lewis Thomas Jr., and his card-playing buddies. He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law whom he loved dearly, Helen Davis, his father-in-law Frank (Tye) Davis, and his sister-in-law Rebecca Osborne.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral service. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Haller Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
