Cynthia Detillion

June 1, 1961 — December 28, 2016

?Cynthia Jane Sutherland Detillion On the evening of December 28 th , 2016, Cynthia passed away surrounded by family at Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio following a brief battle with cancer. Cynthia was 55 years old.   Cynthia Jane Sutherland was born on June 1, 1961 in the town of Chillicothe in Ross County, Ohio. She was the youngest of four children and only daughter of Howard and June Ellen Arledge Sutherland Jr.   Cynthia led a life filled with love. She was married 30 years to her best friend and soulmate, Randy L. Detillion. Together they created a life with family at the center. Above all else, Cynthia loved being a mother to her five children and grandmother to her four grandchildren. She poured her heart into those roles with unwavering love and devotion. She was also a mother to more than just her own children and a special daughter, sister, aunt, in-law, and friend. Her quiet acts of caring and kindness brightened the lives of many.  Cynthia enjoyed the outdoors, travel, reading, and a hot cup of tea with conversation.                                                                                                                                                      She worked hard at everything she pursued from farm life, to cycling in century rides and running marathons, to working as the Secretary, Treasurer, and Vice-President of Detillion Landscaping Company. She also loved animals of all kinds and there were numerous cats, dogs, goats, and even pigs over the years that surely had a better life because of her. Cynthia was an avid and selfless volunteer, giving her time and resources to Elizabeth's Hope Pregnancy Resource Center, the Good Samaritan Food Pantry, and various other charitable organizations. She was also a devoted blood donor and an active and beloved member of First Wesleyan Church.   Cynthia will be missed greatly as a wife, mother, and grandmother to her husband, Randy L. Detillion, of Chillicothe; daughters Dr. Stephanie (Per) Norander, of Charlotte, NC and Courtney (Ted) Ruppert, of Columbus, OH; sons Joshua, Quentin, and Chase of Chillicothe; grandchildren Caroline and Jacob Ruppert and Elias and Hanna Norander. Her memory will also be cherished by her parents June and Howard Sutherland of Chillicothe; brothers Monsignor David Cox, of Kirksville, MO, Rusty (Tammy) Cox, of Londonderry, and Tim Sutherland of Londonderry; her mother and father-in-law, Bernice and Howard Detillion; and her husband's siblings and their families will miss her dearly.  Cynthia was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Grace and Carl Arledge, her paternal grandparents Grace and Howard Sutherland, her sister-in-law Mitz Sutherland, and her beloved friend Susan Thacker.             A celebration of life will take place 4:00 pm, Saturday, January 7, 2017, at First Wesleyan Church, 89 South Mulberry Street, Chillicothe, OH. The family will receive friends immediately following the celebration. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Elizabeth's Hope Pregnancy Resource Center, 311 West Water Street, Chillicothe, OH, 45601, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
