Cynthia M. Brown, 65, of Chillicothe, died at 12:20pm Sunday, October 19, 2014, at Westmoreland Place. She was born May 6, 1949, in Richmond, IN, to the late Richard E. and Ruth M. (Adamson) Brown. She is survived by her two brothers: James R. (Dianna Love) Brown, Morgantown, WV; Paul D. (Patricia) Brown, St. Petersburg, FL; a sister Sue E. (John) Beatty, Batavia, OH; 8 nieces and nephews; and 7 great-nieces and great-nephews. Ms. Brown worked for the US Bureau of the Census as a supervisor and for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as a statistician. She also was the owner of Next Step Consulting, an organizational consulting practice. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Marietta College, a Master of Science in Statistics from Miami University, and a Master of Arts in Applied Behavioral Science, from Leadership Institute of Seattle. Cynthia volunteered at the Hopewell National Historical Park, volunteered for VITA, a division of the IRS, and volunteered at the Hope Clinic. She was a former member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. She was a member of AAUW and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she volunteered with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at St. Mary Church, Rev. Lawrence Hummer officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the Mass at St. Mary Church.
