Schobelock, 87, of Chillicothe, went to her heavenly home, surrounded by her family, 4:42 pm, Friday, December 10, 2010, at the Adena Regional Medical Center. She was born January 17, 1923 in Ross Co. to the late Arthur and Mabel Brannan Diehl. On December 21, 1941 she married James L. Schobelock Sr., who died December 31, 1977. Survivors include five daughters, Patricia Elliott, Jennifer (Michael) Hines, Judith (Robert) Harmon, and Pamela (Marvin) Coppock, all of Chillicothe and Karen Darby, of Weston, OH; four sons, James Jr. (Donna) and Randy (Vicki) Schobelock, both of Chillicothe and Richard (Joyce) and Clifford Schobelock, both of Columbus; 24 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 13 great, great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Diehl, of Gahanna; a sister, Ann Lyon; of Xenia; a sister-in-law, Gwynneth Diehl; and a brother-in-law, Roger Webb Sr.; and a host of very close friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Jon; two grandchildren; six brothers; and two sisters; and three sons-in-law. Mrs. Schobelock was a long time member of Landmark Christian Church and a founder of the Women's Mission Circle. She was a member of the 700 Club. Known to family as "Grandma Corky," her family was the focus and true joy of her life and it showed in the time she spent cooking and baking for them, including her apple pies, fried chicken, and other family favorites. She loved the outdoors, spending time gardening, bird watching and tending to her Shamrock plantings brought here from Ireland in the 1930's. She also enjoyed reading and writing poetry, and sewing. Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm, Wednesday at the Haller Funeral Home, with her grandson, Pastor Aaron Hines officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Garden. Friends may call 5-8 pm Tuesday at Haller's.
