Connie Fitzmaurice

Connie Rochelle (Wartner) FitzMaurice, 81, of Chillicothe, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 1, 2017, at Heartland of Dublin Nursing Home, following an extended illness. She was born on February 26, 1936, in Zion, Illinois, to the late Britten N. and Miriam M. (Whiteside) Peterson. On September 15, 1957, she married Kevin Gates FitzMaurice, who preceded her in death on June 3, 1987. Surviving are their children, Kerry (Brenda) FitzMaurice, of Kenosha, WI, Colleen (Stephen Newton) FitzMaurice, of Powell, Kathy (Janette) FitzMaurice, of Chillicothe, and Karen (Kevin) Grant, also of Chillicothe; 11 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and first husband Kevin, Connie was preceded in death by her second husband, David Wartner, and two grandchildren, Ashley FitzMaurice, and Keith Duffy FitzMaurice. Connie worked as a Registered Nurse at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center and was a member of the Nurses Club in Brookdale. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, and loved watching baseball. She was an avid supporter of Paint Valley High School, where her daughters and grandson graduated. But above all else, she lived for her family. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public services. A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
