Clifford W. Morton, 79, of Chillicothe, died at 2:30pm Saturday, November 12, 2005, in Westmoreland Place following an extended illness. He was born April 7, 1926, in Columbus, OH to the late Warren W. and Mazie F. (Nichols) Morton. Surviving are his step-daughter and her husband Nicholette and Dan Ratcliffe, Chillicothe; many cousins including David Buskirk, Alice Thompson, and Miriam Carleen Graves, all of Londonderry; two nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his "Best Pal" Ruth Taylor and a sister Charlotte L. Smith. Cliff retired from Ohio Bell following 35 years of service as a Systems Technician. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the 101st Airborne as a Paratrooper. Cliff was an avid horseman. He owned, bred and trained both thoroughbreds and standardbreds throughout his life. He was a member of the US Trotting Assoc. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, November 16, at Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Bennett officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8pm at Haller Funeral Home.
