Clayton Edwards, 80, of Ray, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, May 28, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born May 21, 1944, in Los Angeles, California, son of the late Lloyd and Claetta Edwards. In October 1977, he married his beloved wife, Regina (Barker) Edwards, who survives.
Also surviving is his brother, Lloyd (Mary) Edwards, of Centennial, CO; two wonderful nieces, Carolyn (Paul) Murphy, and Christine (Mikey VanDoran) Edwards, and four great-nieces; as well as numerous loving members of Regina's family, including a special niece, Anna.
Clayton was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army, serving during Vietnam from 1969-1971. He went on to attend the Ohio State University, graduating in 1977 with his PhD. Throughout his career, he worked for various US Federal Government Agencies, where he made many life-long friends. He was a proud member of the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society. His family and friends will forever remember his love of talking and telling good stories.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation services will be performed. There will be no public calling hours or services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Chillicothe YMCA in his honor, where he and Regina enjoyed many years of exercise classes and making good friends.
