Clay Baxter Kottenbrook

Clay was named after his Great Grandfather, Gilbert Clay Baxter because of his attitude and red hair! Anyone who knew Gib Baxter was laughing and saying "Oh Boy" here we go! Clay was adopted which gave Chas & Tracy plenty of time before hand to get to know Clay. After pondering his name Clay Baxter Kottenbrook was the only answer. He came into our family creating a whirlwind that could only be termed "Clay Bird". We are sure Clay clapped his way through those pearly gates, as he was still clapping hours before his departure. It was mentioned that most likely the delay in Clay's estimated departure was the need to reinforce Heaven for the whirlwind Clay Bird would bring with him. Clay felt that most people were an acquired taste and he didn't feel the need to acquire it. Those he loved, liked and tolerated were gifted with tremendous amounts of hand clapping, being grabbed, pulled off their feet by his Herculean strength, open mouth kisses on the top of the hand, that would melt the coldest of hearts and pulled into "The Clay radius", lots of smiles, lots of being told off in vocalizations that left no doubt when he was angry or happy with you. He would say Mom Mom, Dad, Chas, wuv u or just simply growled, his people listened and fast. Clay Bird had his ways and those were the only way or else there would be a chaotic mess to handle.

We Imagine once Jesus welcomed Clay home there was a reunion that we can only dream of. Clay got to meet his older brothers Randy & Noah that he had seen pictures and heard stories of. Kaydee was there to most likely throw a welcome home toy at him to see if he ever did learn to catch those toys before they hit his head, just for old times sake of course. Collin would be telling him all about how these new bodies work and pointing out the fact they no longer had wheelchairs to hold them down. Addison, well we are sure that she was grabbing his hand and telling him how to behave before he could utter a word.

Meanwhile here at home his brother Brenton was making sure Clay's transition to the gurney was handled with great care, his brother Keagan was sending toys that had to go with his earthly body in the casket, Bailey was sitting with his earthly body until the funeral home came. As close as she could get taking selfies to remember Clay. Dani, Clay's partner in the loud back & forth vocal stylings & harmony going on across the hallway is left wondering who is going to answer and squeal with her now? Then all the family & hospices nurses followed Clay's gurney past his room and down the hall way for a goodbye parade until the funeral home.

Clay was predeceased by his First Mother Jessica Raines. We are Grateful for the Blessing of being Clay's parents since he left the hospital as an infant. Clay spent 11 years and 10 months in his earthly body learning how to bounce a 300 lb wheelchair and doing other things that Dr's deemed couldn't be done.

A special Thank you to Clay's private duty nurses Megan Steinbrook & Gretchen Hoberty. You loved Hard. Nationwide Hospice & Pallative care team of Dr's, Nurses, Music & Massage therapists, Childlife, Chaplin & Social workers. Thank you all for walking this Journey with Clay & our family.

Clay will be missed by his Pa, Charles Kottenbrook Jr, and was greeted in Heaven by his his Grandma Nina (Linda). Grandpa Danny & Grandma Diana Baxter will also be missing Clay Bird.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Haller's Funeral Home. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
