Claude Gray

Claude F. Gray, 84, of Chillicothe, died 9:45 am, Saturday, July 18, 2015, at his home, following an extended illness. He was born May 8, 1931 in Tucson, OH to the late Wallace and Pearl Conaway Gray. On August 27, 1950 he married Mary Alice Rogers Gray, who died July 17, 2012. Survivors include his children: Claude David (Gina) Gray, Chillicothe; Beth E. (Dave Adcock) Schrake, Junction City; Craig A. (Tina) Gray; Bruce E. (Sarah) Gray; and Kristi L. Gillum, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren: Beth Anne (Rob) Magill; Aaron M. Schrake; Bo Gray; Abby Gray; Brittany Gray; Brett Gray; Michael Gillum; and Kaleigh Gillum; great-grandchildren: Brandon Magill, Austin Magill, Dylan Magill, Hope Magill, Shira Schrake and Conner Schrake, all of Chillicothe; and three sisters, Mary Garrison and Marilyn (Roger) Barnhart, of Chillicothe and Georgia (John) Hall, of Wauseon. Claude was a graduate of Adelphi Harrison High School, Class of 1949. He was a long time member of the Charleston Church of the Brethren and a 33 year Harrison Township Trustee. He retired, with over 40 years of service, from Mead Paper Company and was a Harrison Township Fire Department volunteer for over 40 years. He was a scout master, and a loyal Southeastern Panther, Ohio State Buckeye, and Cincinnati Reds fan. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at the Haller Funeral Home, Rev. Mel Smith officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Charleston Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Charleston Church of the Brethren, 250 Dunkard Hill Rd., Chillicothe, 45601.
