Claire C. Packer, 87, of Grove City, OH, formerly of Ocala, FL, died 10:28 am, July 11, 2018, at the Monterey Care Center, Grove City, following an extended illness.
She was born May 26, 1931 in Brattleboro, VT to the late Anthony and Florina Deneault LaFreniere. She married Robert Packer, who died July 11, 2004. Survivors include her children, Debra (Cort) Vines, Tobyhanna, PA, Daniel (Mary) Shaw and Michael (Tami) Shaw, both of Denham Springs, LA, Nanette (Randy) Sklenar, Grove City, and Noelle Hulslander, Ocala, FL; four step-children, Kathy Whelchel, Ronald and Allan Packer, and Carolyn Neer; her grandchildren, Richard (Daniella) Ferraro, Angela (Jay) Antrim, John (Trudy) Ferraro, Danielle Dupuy, Michelle Shaw, David and Allison Jeffers, Jamie Brumm, and Joseph, Travis, and Tara Coombs; step-grandchildren, Laura Miller, Sarah Garner and Alicia McKinney; a sister-in-law: Debbie LaFreniere; a special friend and surrogate daughter, Debi Nenson; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Jeanne Emond and Richard LaFreniere; and a grandson, Michael Anthony Shaw, Jr.
Mrs. Packer loved butterflies, to crochet, cook, and to watch golf. She retired after 44 years in the telecommunications industry from Sprint's credit department in 1996. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Belleview, FL. She will surely be missed by friends and family.
Following cremation, private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will not be observed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601 or Mt. Carmel Hospice, 1144 Dublin Rd., Columbus, OH 43215.
