Cherie Donnells Dickey, 93, of Chillicothe, died 2:45 am, December 18, 2021, at the Adena Regional Medical Center.   She was born April 13, 1928 in Schenectady, NY to the late Ray and Ruth Shirey Donnells.  On December 31, 1968 she married David Dickey, who preceded her in death in 1995.  Survivors include four children, Madeline Shoemaker, Charles Haynes, Marilyn Haynes Reynard, Tom Haynes and two step sons, David Houston and Steven Dickey; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Donnells and a sister, Mickie Timmons.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Donnells and sister, Patricia Sparks.   She was a member of Brownsburg Methodist Church in Indiana and Walnut Street United Methodist Church in Chillicothe.  Cherie retired from the Indiana University Hospital in 1992.  Upon retiring, she began her passion of water coloring painting which gave her great joy and fulfillment. She was self-taught and became lost in the love of painting. She helped establish the Victoria Art Gallery in Brownsburg, Indiana and joined the Central Indiana Art League where she won numerous awards and commendations for her art.  Her artist talents were also expressed in her poem writing.  She wrote hundreds, often just expressing what was on her mind at the moment.  One example is this:   The day will come I was told When you will become old. And life then changes in many ways. Your memories will help to brighten your days. So, worry not about things to do. Live it up!!  The years are now too few.   Following cremation, a private graveside service will be held in Grandview Cemetery.
