Charles "Charlie" Emerson Turvy passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, February 3, 2008, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Thursday, February 7, 2008, at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, 341 Clinton Rd., with Pastors Ryan & Josh Bevan officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm on Wednesday, February 6, at Haller Funeral Home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Lighthouse Baptist Church Building Fund, 341 Clinton Rd., Chillicothe; or Adena Health Foundation, Friends of Hospice, 272 Hospital Rd., Chillicothe. Charlie was born in Columbus, OH on March 13, 1947 to Wade E. and Lucinda F. (Peden) Turvy. On October 10, 1997 he married Deborah Sue (Spriggs) Pearson, who survives. Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Barry E. (Diane) Turvy; grandsons, Jack Emerson & Andrew John Turvy, all of Carmel, IN; a step-son, Robert E. Pearson, of Arlington, VA; two sisters, Rosalee (Terry) Blake of Nederland, CO; Susan (Bill) Saunders of West Chester, OH; one brother, John David Turvy, of Dublin, OH; brothers-in-law, Fred (Joanna) L. Spriggs of Richmond Dale; James F. (Debbie) Spriggs of Washougal, WA; a sister-in-law, Cora J. Rhinehart of Kettering, OH; several special nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many close friends and his church family whose prayers and support meant so much. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wade Turvy, Jr.; and mother-in-law, Gloria Spriggs. Charles retired in June, 2007, after 35 years in finance, from the Ohio Valley Electric Corporation. He was an active member of The Lighthouse Baptist Church, the current President of The OSU Alumni Club of Ross County, Past Commander and life member of the American Legion Post # 62, life member of the VFW Post 108, the Amvets Post 4, and the Disabled American Veterans. Charlie was a member and Past President of the Arthur St. Clair Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, and Voiture 43 of the 40 & 8. He was also a very willing volunteer at the Chillicothe VA Hospital. Charles was a very proud veteran having served in the 25th Infantry Division of the US Army during the Vietnam conflict, and spent his life supporting and caring for his fellow veterans. Charles and Deb truly enjoyed traveling over the past 10 years to the beach and to Mexico.
