Charles Robert "Bob" Shewalter, 76, of Grove City, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the Mt. Carmel West Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Chillicothe on September 26, 1939, to the late Charles Franklin and Ruth Marie (Shepherd) Shewalter. He married Phyllis Flesher who preceded him in death. Bob is survived by his long time girlfriend, Nancy Lewis, of Grove City; his daughter, Starla Jo Shewalter; his grandson, Jason Burnham Jr.; and his sister, Judy Tyo, all of Chillicothe; an aunt, Gladys Shepherd; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert (Sue) Spencer; five nephews, Bryan (Risa) Tyo, Brent (Mary Ann) Tyo, Thad (Heather) Spencer, Joe Bartlett, and Erin (Kelly) Spencer; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife Phyllis, Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Marsha Hatfield. After graduating from Chillicothe High School in 1958, Bob joined the United States Army, where he honorably served in Germany. He was employed for many years at the Mead Paper Company before retiring in 1997. Bob enjoyed playing music, dancing, and loved muscle cars. He was a member of the America Legion Post #62, the Moose Lodge, and the Eagles. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Haller Funeral Home. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends and family may call on Friday from 2:00pm-4:00pm and from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Hallers.
