Charles Eursa Schoenholtz, 89, of Chillicothe left this world to be with his Lord at 4:33 p.m. on Thursday September 28, 2017, surrounded by his loving family and friends at his home. He was born July 14, 1928 to the late Eursa and Zella Reihle Schoenholtz. On September 26, 1952 he married Mildred E. Edgington, his loving wife of 63 years, who died September 26, 2015. Surviving is his son, Chuck (Cindy) Schoenholtz; his daughter and caregivers, Karen (Ed) Shreve; his only grandson and caregivers Ryan Shreve (Erin Canter) with whom he lived. Charlie is also survived by many nieces and nephews including; Kenny (Marcia) Schoenholtz, of Chillicothe, and Marsha Conaway, of Tacoma, WA; great-nieces, Holly & Molly Schoenholtz; a life-long friend of over 80 years, Harold Poole, all of Chillicothe; sisters-in-law, Mary Schoenholtz, of Chillicothe, and Loraine Edgington, of Circleville; special caregivers and now family friends, Jodi Estep, Donnie Ward, Betti Davis, and Pam Hinton. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Schoenholtz, a sister Alice Weiler, and a nephew Charles Edgington. Charlie was an honorable US Army veteran who proudly served in the Korean War conflict. He was retired from the Mead Corporation where he worked from the time he returned from Korea until 1992. He was a member of American Legion Post 62 and the First Church of God in Chillicothe. Charlie loved to hunt, fish, trap, and spend time supporting his grandson and great nieces. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Pennington officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Twin Twp. Cemetery. Friends and family may call on Monday from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
