Charles Ramey

Charles C. "Chuck" Ramey, 73, entered Heaven's pearly gates on May 11, 2017 at home with his family, following a brief illness. Born on March 17, 1944, the 7 th of 10 children of Jesse and Grace Fyffe Ramey, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Judy M. Schneider on September 15, 1961. Chuck is the proud father of two sons, Alexander C. (Irma), Jeffrey W. (Anastasia), and two daughters, Melissa A. and Jeanette "Jenny" Skaggs (Duston). Chuck is also the loving grandfather to Jeffrey Ramey, Jr., Charles J. (CJ) Skaggs, Landon R. and Elijah A. Ramey, and step-grandfather to Julian, Sheila, and Shelda Tmarsel, Cory, Joel, and Tyler Thompson; and was a great-grandfather to Lyra Ramey. He is also survived by brothers Dave, Marvin, and Danny and sisters Elsie Auxier, Marilyn Jane Athington, and Barbara Ramey and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters: Evelyn Conley and Patricia Ross and brother Herbert Ramey, niece Bonnie Russell and nephew Jesse Conley. He was a retired UPS parcelman (30 years) and also previously had worked at the VA Medical Center Canteen for six years. He was a member of Teamsters Local 413. During his retirement he worked at Southeastern Local Schools for eleven years. During his free time he had been a Central Committee member for the Chillicothe Boy Scout Troop 10 and a former member of the Chillicothe Evening Lions Club and Eagles, Aerie 600. Chuck loved life and his family more than words can say. He enjoyed his careers and gave 100% to every job he ever held. He will be missed by all the lives he touched including the current and former students at Southeastern.   His favorite pastimes included watching The Ohio State Buckeyes football games and the Cincinnati Bengals. Family was important to Chuck and that included the numerous pets over the years. He is survived by dogs Chiquita and Sparky, and cats Tiger and Toby. The family would like to send a special thanks to those that helped Chuck over the past few months including The Cancer Center through Adena Health System, particularly the Oncology specialists Dr. Krishnan and Doug Smith, CNP; and National Church Residence Hospice care. Their concern for not just Chuck but his family as well was unparalleled. Calling hours for Chuck will be Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Haller Funeral Home, 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be on Monday, May 15, at 11 am at Richmond Dale United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Caldwell Cemetery. The family would like to request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Charles Ramey Memorial Fund at the Richmond Dale United Methodist Church.                 Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God.
