Charles A. Gillum, 76, of Chillicothe, passed away at 7:35am January 27, 2025, at Grant Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born April 12, 1948, in Sandy Hook, KY, to the late Merida and Iva (Ison) Gillum. On June 9, 1972, he married the former Brenda Kay Rhinehart, who survives.
Also surviving are his sons: Aaron (Angelica) Gillum, of Columbus, and Nathan (Tara) Gillum, of Cincinnati; his brothers: Jim (Janice), Delbert (Patti), Grover, Gene, Sam (Sandy), Emory (Diane), Gary (Debbie) Gillum; sisters: Molly (Ralph) Hamilton and Reeda Wolfe; numerous nieces and nephews; and many, many good friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Thursa Huff; and brothers Johnny, Robert, Paul, Tommie and Floyd Gillum.
Following graduation from Jackson High School, Charlie served his country in the US Army. He worked as a mechanic for the Ross Co. Engineering Dept. and with his brother at Gillum's Garage. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 62, and the Eagles, Aerie 600. Charlie enjoyed hunting and has several trophy heads including deer, elk, moose and a bear rug. He also loved drag racing and still has the car he raced.
His funeral service will be held at 1pm Wednesday, February 5, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, with Pastor Woody Wilson officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale, OH. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
