Charles Freeman

Charles H. "Ike" Freeman, 82, of Chillicothe, went home to be with the Lord at 5:36am Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born April 29, 1930, in Chillicothe to the late Clifford T. and Marjorie M. (Morgan) Freeman. On August 30, 1951, he married the former Rachel I. Dailey, who survives. Also surviving are his daughters and son-in-law Sherry Freeman; Judy (Michael) Comer; son and daughter-in-law Charles "Ike" (Mary) Freeman, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren: Mike (Carla) Comer; Melissa (Jeremy) Caldwell; Eric Freeman; Christopher (Kadie) Freeman; Brittney (Nathan) Nulph; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and a great-granddaughter, Briar A. Freeman. Ike retired from the US Navy following 21 proud years of combined active and reserve service to his country. He later retired from the Mead Paper Co. in 1992 following 31 years of service. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served in several offices, including as a Deacon. He was devoted to the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) where he served as the chairman of the Ross Co. Chapter and on the State Board of Ohio CEF. He was also a lifetime member and former commander of the VFW, Post 108. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday at the Haller Funeral Home with his grandson, Pastor Chris Freeman officiating, assisted by Pastor Brandon Lee. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Floral Hills Memory Garden. Friends may call Saturday from 10am until 11am at Haller Funeral Home.
