Charles Drummond

Charles L. Drummond, 83, of Chillicothe, died 7:00 pm, Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, following an extended illness. He was born October 9, 1926 in Hillsboro, OH to Charles H. and Marjorie Layton Drummond. On July 31, 1945 he married Ora O. Ramsey, who survives. Also surviving are his two daughters, Donna Haines and Joyce (Ted) Click, both of Chillicothe; three grandchildren, Amanda (Arin) Peters, Ethan Haines, and Joseph Click; a great-granddaughter, Karlie Peters; three nieces and several cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, John W. Drummond. Mr. Drummond retired from the City of Chillicothe. He was a police officer and retired as a firefighter with 26 years of service in 1980. He was a US Navy Veteran. He attended the First United Methodist Church, served on the Ross Co. Fair Board and was a member of the Ross Co. Agricultural Society. He was also a member of American Legion Post 62, Phoenix Fire Department, Mt. Logan Riding Club, Ross Co. Conservation League, the Professional Fire Fighters Retirees Association, the Police and Fire Retirees of Ohio, Inc., Ross Co. Senior Citizens, Heber Lodge 501 F & AM, Chapter 4 Royal Arch Masons, Chillicothe Council 4 Royal and Select Masons, Commandery 8 Knights Templar, Valley of Columbus Scottish Rite, Shriners International, Aladdin Shriners, the Ross Co. Shrine Club, and was a Kentucky Colonel. He held an amateur radio license and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He dearly loved fried fish. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday at Haller Funeral Home, Rev. Charles Case officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 pm Wednesday at Haller's. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ross Co. Shrine Club, Tabloid for Shiners Hospitals, PO Box 371, Chillicothe, OH 45601, or the Ross Co. Agricultural Society.
