Charles J. Counts Charles Jesse Counts, 83, of Chillicothe, died 9:20 am, February 5, 2008 in the Adena Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday in the Haller Funeral Home, Rev. Steven Schmidt officiating. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Floral Hills Memory Garden. Friends may call 12-2 pm Saturday at Haller's. He was born March 9, 1924 in Ross Co. to the late Edwin and Bernice Peart Counts. On October 8, 1955 he married Ann Louise Cool, who survives. Also surviving are his brothers, John (Frances) Counts, of Frankfort, C. Dale (Tonya) Counts, of Chillicothe; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Counts; son, James E. (Cheryl) Counts, of Chillicothe; a daughter, Cherie (James) Davis, of Wilmington, NC; grandson, Adam (Beth) French and great-grandson, Logan French, of Pataskala, OH; and several cousins; nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wendell Counts and a sister Luella Francis. He had been an employee of the Chillicothe Gazette for 32 years and had also retired from the Chillicothe Electric Company. He was a Past President of the Optimist Club, Roweton Ranch, Salvation Army Advisory Board, and the Hopeton Village Board of Governors. He served on the Ross Co. Fair Board, United Way and was a member of the Southern Ohio Antique Care Club. He served as Chairman of the Arrangements committee for the "Celebration '97 with Ralph Bell/Billy Graham Crusade." Mr. Counts was a US Army Air Force Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and had served in several capacities, including Chairman of the Ushers, for several years.
