Charles E. "Jack" Barnes, departed this life peacefully at home at 11:30am August 19, 2014, at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 4 days. He was born December 14, 1934, in Chillicothe, the only child of Clyde and Myrtle Irene (Thornton) Barnes. Charlie was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1953. In September following his graduation, he volunteered for 4 years of service in the Army Air Corps. In 1957, he joined his father, Clyde "Jack" in the management of Jack's Texaco Service on South Paint Street. The business grew to a small empire and became Jack's Tire and Auto Center, Inc., today one of the leading Tire and Auto businesses in South Central Ohio. He was well known throughout Ohio and into Kentucky. He leaves behind his best friend, partner and companion for life, Bernice "Bee" (Cox) Barnes, whom he married on May 2, 1970. He was a caring father to 5 children: Deborah Ann (Dennis) Fyffe, Monte Miller, Troy Miller and Patrick (Jenny) Miller; proud grandfather to 9: Dennis William "DJ", Christopher Fyffe and his companion Christina Stevens, Zachary Ryan (Jamie) Fyffe, Kristy Leigh (Scott) Wilkinson, Samantha Arlene Miller, Charles Clayton Miller, Sylvia Ellen Miller, Alia Nichole (Adam) Souers, Trista Parker and companion Justin Langolf; the 10 true loves of his life, his great-grandchildren: Cole, Rowan, Ava and Tripp Fyffe; Broden and Maelyn Souers; Laykin and Gray Langolf; and Clark and Liam Wilkinson; and his feline friend "Kat." He was predeceased by his parents and his daughter Deborah Ann Barnes. Charlie was always true to himself doing things "his way." He was fair, honest, reliable, consistent, and a wonderful provider for his family. He enjoyed summers at his cabin at the lake, cherished his time his kids and grandkids while watching them play, fish, and take rides on the boat. He loved country music and an ice cold PBR. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home.
