Carolyn Hammond

Carolyn Lou "Kitty" Hammond, 85, of Chillicothe, died 12:30 pm, April 1, 2022 at the Adena Regional Medical Center.   She was born October 16, 1936 in Wellston, OH to the late Forrest Eldon and Sadie Carmen Stewart Jones.  On July 4, 1954 she married James E. Hammond, who survives.  Also surviving are her three children, James Jeffrey Hammond, Cathy Lynne Hammond, and Susan Elaine (Keith) Locklear, all of Chillicothe; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her dog, Cindy.  She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey Sean River; a sister, Francis Zimmer; and a brother, Orville Jones.   Mrs. Hammond was a perfect mother, and had a great love for her family.  They were everything to her.  She was the head drum majorette for the Wellston Golden Rockets.  She retired from the Mead Credit Union as a loan supervisor, following 28 years of service.  Kitty enjoyed sewing and homemaking.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and sang in the church chancel choir.  She was a dynamic Christian woman and prayer warrior.   Following cremation, graveside services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, May 21, 2022 in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rev. Dr. Jason Link officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 13 Mead Dr., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
