Carolyn Detty

Carolyn J. Detty, 54, of Londonderry, died at 5:22pm, May 26, 2018, at Berger Hospice, Circleville, following an extended battle with breast cancer.   She was born January 16, 1964, in Columbus, OH, to the late James Garfield, Sr. and Phyllis Ann (Barbee) Richmond. On November 14, 1982, she married Ralph W. "Bill" Detty, who survives.   Also surviving are her children: Brandon (Krystal) Detty, of Akron, Dustin Detty and his fiancée Brittany Pettiford, of Frankfort, and Crystal (Shayne) DePugh, of Chillicothe; her brother Mark A. (Nija) Richmond, of Jacksonville, NC; 3 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her many furry friends she adopted. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother James "Jimmy" G. Richmond, Jr.   Carolyn had worked for Ross Co. Community Action Head Start program since 1995. She was a graduate of Southeastern High School, Class of 1982. She was a talented artist, enjoyed gardening and canning, enjoyed working with the children at Head Start, was adventurous and loved riding motorcycles. The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the James Cancer Center and Berger Hospice for their care and compassion in treating Carolyn.   Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, June 1, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Mark Gray officiating. Friends may call from 4-8pm Thursday at the funeral home. At her request, cremation will follow the services.
