Carolyn Clemmons

Carolyn G. Clemmons, 84, died peacefully at home at 7:00am on May 31, 2014, following an extended illness. She was born July 5, 1929, in Dayton, OH, to the late Calvin and Margaret (Breidenour) Wheelbarger. On November 13, 1958, she married Orville W. Clemmons, who preceded her in death on October 1, 2010. She is survived by her daughters Cindy Jarvis and Carol Gainey, both of Chillicothe; Sylvia Taylor, Elizabeth City, NC; son and daughter-in-law Donnie (Anita) Gainey, San Francisco, CA; several grandchildren including Heidi, Trisha, Missy and Jeanel; many great-grandchildren; and her siblings JoAnn (Robert) Francis, Billy Wheelbarger, Grace Tyson and Jackie (LaVern) Wheelbarger. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, son Al Gainey; a sister; and three brothers. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. John Gabis and staff; Dr. Frank Cosentino and staff; the staff at Adena Dialysis; staff of Portsmouth, Life and Medcare Ambulance Companies; and to NCR Hospice and health care for their care. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, June 5, at Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Clendaniel and friend Don Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 1-3 pm at Haller's.
